Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Refrigeration to design, analyze, and optimize industrial refrigeration systems across the enterprise. The role emphasizes ammonia, CO2, and Freon systems, ensuring safe operation, regulatory compliance, reliability, and energy efficiency in support of operational and business objectives.

This role is virtual/remote from anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or U.S.

Qualifications

5+ years in industrial refrigeration with ammonia systems experience.
Hands-on with NH3 and Freon refrigeration engineering and design.
Strong knowledge of PSM and RMP compliance requirements.
Experience with system troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Experience supporting capital projects and commissioning.
Ability to interpret P&IDs and engineering specs.
Familiar with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements.
Willingness to travel to operating sites (>25%).

Responsibilities

Design, review, and support industrial refrigeration systems using NH3, CO2, and Freon.
Develop engineering standards, specifications, and system documentation.
Evaluate performance and recommend safety, reliability, and energy improvements.
Provide technical support for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Collaborate with Design and Construction to set design standards.
Support processes safety management and regulatory compliance audits.
Assist with capital projects, expansions, and retrofits.
Partner with Facilities and Maintenance to develop maintenance SOPs.
