Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead field testing and documentation for HVAC systems across education, healthcare, commercial, and science/technology sectors. You will perform on-site testing, observations, and reporting under senior guidance to ensure operational readiness and compliance with safety standards.

Travel up to 50% is expected, with remote work options within the U.S. The role emphasizes collaboration with owners, project managers, engineers, and contractors

Qualifications

• 4+ years in commissioning, HVAC system design, or building automation field work.
• Bachelor's or master's in engineering; ABET preferred.
• Strong understanding of HVAC and BAS sequences; ability to read construction docs and translate to test procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute commissioning activities for assigned projects under supervision.
• Develop and implement commissioning plan, checklists, forms, and reports.
• Develop functional performance tests for HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with PMs, design teams, contractors, and vendors for testing and issue resolution.
• Witness start-up, point-to-point verification, and TAB verification; document results.
