Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer for electric transmission projects from 46kV to 345 kV, applying NESC/ASCE standards and preparing bids, plans, and construction documents. The role includes remote work with regular site visits and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary Leidos team.

The candidate should have a Civil Engineering degree with at least eight years of HV transmission experience and familiarity with PLS-CADD, POLE, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems
• Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; construction specifications; material procurement process; project schedules; and construction work packages.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
• Ability to work effectively in team environment but also able to work independently
• Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams
• Work in client office is a possibility and/or periodic travel may be required

Responsibilities

• Design electric utility transmission systems for HV overhead and underground lines from 46kV to 345 kV
• Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI and other standards in design of overhead systems and infrastructure projects
• Prepare bidding documents, plans and specifications, and procurement/construction documents
• Interface with clients, planning, environmental, permitting and construction management personnel
• Support project planning and staffing in a multi-person Leidos team
• Communicate effectively with clients and project teams
