Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an HV SCADA Engineer II to provide mid-level engineering support for design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of HV SCADA systems on utility-scale renewable and substation projects across the United States. The role supports EPC delivery under established standards and supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
• 2 - 4 years of SCADA engineering experience (substation SCADA experience preferred).
• Ability to read and understand electrical design drawings including single-line, equipment layout, diagrams, and panel drawings.
• Knowledge of protection relays and power meters used in substations.
• Experience coordinating with utility companies for interconnects and design standards.
• Experience with programming languages including C, C++, Java, Python, and Structured Text (IEC61131-3).
• Experience with SCADA software such as acSELerator RTAC and Ignition SCADA.
• Knowledge of SCADA network design (fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet).
• Familiarity with PLC environments (Schweitzer RTAC, Allen-Bradley, GE/Emerson RX3i).
• Understanding of industrial automation protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA).
• Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review SCADA system requirements for substations on renewable projects.
• Support HV SCADA design development and drawings per project specs.
• Verify substation points lists against relay/meter settings files.
• Program and commission RTACs, PDCs, and HMI systems.
• Coordinate network settings and IP assignments for substation equipment.
• Troubleshoot communications between devices and controllers.
• Provide technical support for diverse substation configurations.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and field technicians during commissioning.
• Compare drawings to site conditions to ensure proper installation.
• Travel ~20% on-site support and commissioning.
