Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Human Centered Design & UX Analyst to support HCD and HFE across VA programs. You will conduct user research, develop validated workflows and wireframes, and evaluate usability through prototypes and studies, following VA and Digital.gov guidance.

This growth role is fully remote within the United States. You will work with cross-functional teams, maintain artifacts such as personas and journey maps, and ensure accessibility compliance (Section 508, WCAG 2.2).

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of human-centered design and UX principles.
• Experience supporting qualitative research activities (interviews, groups, usability testing).
• Ability to produce and maintain design artifacts (journey maps, personas, wireframes).
• Familiarity with Mural and facilitating collaboration sessions.
• Working knowledge of 508 and WCAG 2.2 accessibility requirements.
• Strong written and oral communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the continental US for onsite research.
• Portfolio or case studies demonstrating research or design work.
• Experience with field testing, POC, pilots, and reporting.
• Preferred: prior VA or federal healthcare program exposure.

Responsibilities

• Supports HCD and HFE studies using interviews, focus groups, observations, and usability testing.
• Develops validated workflows and wireframes for development teams.
• Maintains HCD artifacts such as journey maps, personas, and information architectures.
• Coordinates recruitment and participates in research scheduling with VA leads.
• Ensures accessibility conformance in research, design, and reporting.
• Prepares meeting materials, research plans, and status updates.
• Collaborates with product owners, designers, developers, and VA stakeholders.
