Job summary

Magpie Health Analytics is seeking a full-time remote Human Resources Manager to lead the day-to-day HR operations and scale the function as the workforce grows. The role covers recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, employee relations, and policy development.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of HR experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment across multiple states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of HR experience, including independently managing a broad range of responsibilities.
• Experience with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits, leave administration, and separation.
• Working knowledge of federal and state employment requirements across multiple states.
• Ability to research unfamiliar HR issues, evaluate options, and develop practical recommendations.
• Experience developing and improving HR policies, procedures, processes, and documentation.
• Sound judgment on issues that can be handled independently vs. those needing management or legal input.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and ability to work with executives and staff.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Magpie’s primary HR resource for employees and managers, providing guidance on routine employment matters.
• Manage recruiting and hiring processes for approved positions, including job descriptions, postings, offers, background checks, and pre-employment activities.
• Oversee onboarding and offboarding and coordinate with managers and other functions.
• Administer benefits, leave, PTO, records, and HR programs.
• Support managers with employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns.
• Develop, maintain, and improve HR policies, workflows, forms, and documentation.
• Review HR practices to identify gaps and risks and implement improvements.
• Monitor federal, state, and local requirements and incorporate them into HR practices as the company grows.
• Coordinate with Contracts, Compliance, IT & Security, payroll, and benefits providers to support HR needs.
• Research new HR issues, develop practical approaches, and know when to involve specialists.
• Help build scalable HR systems to handle routine people matters as Magpie grows.
