Job summary

MDI - Management Data, Inc. is seeking an HR Generalist I to support payroll, onboarding, recruitment, and employee relations within a hybrid work model.

You will assist with end-to-end payroll processing using Paylocity, maintain HR records, and help ensure policy compliance and an audit-ready environment. The role also includes coordinating new hire onboarding, supporting benefits administration, and assisting with recruitment activities while upholding confidentiality and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 1–2 years in an HR role, or HR-related internship or coursework equivalence.
• Exposure to payroll processing with familiarity of tax withholdings and deductions; willingness to develop full-cycle payroll skills.
• Foundational knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and payroll regulations.
• Familiarity with HRIS and Paylocity; MS 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Process payroll biweekly or semimonthly using Paylocity with attention to tax withholdings and deductions.
• Maintain payroll records and reconcile data across HRIS and benefits systems.
• Assist with enrollment changes and vendor communications for employee benefits.
• Support full-cycle recruitment activities, including postings, screening, interviews, and offers.
• Coordinate new hire onboarding, including paperwork, system access, and orientation scheduling.
• Serve as first point of contact for employee relations questions and investigations as needed.
• Support policy updates, handbook communications, and training on changes to employees.
• Maintain HR records in HRIS, intranet, Smartsheet; ensure data integrity across systems.
• Support compliance with employment law, SOC 2 Type II, and HIPAA requirements relating to data handling.
• Assist performance management processes and track review cycles.
• Handle off-boarding, final PTO payout, benefit terminations, and exit documentation.
