Job summary

Berkley One seeks a High Value Home Risk Consultant to serve affluent homeowners, performing on‑site and virtual risk assessments, educating clients on risks, and developing tailored loss prevention strategies.

The role partners with Underwriting to validate property characteristics, estimate replacement costs, and escalate underwriting concerns. Fully remote with a focus on Brooklyn/Kings county clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in risk management, loss control, underwriting, claims, construction, appraising, or a related property risk discipline.
• Strong ability to identify property loss exposures and provide effective loss prevention and risk mitigation recommendations.
• Knowledge of residential construction, building systems, property valuation, and replacement cost methodologies.
• Experience working with affluent clients and understanding of personal insurance products and risk management principles.
• Proficiency with e2Value or similar valuation platforms.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for high‑value homes to identify exposures that could lead to property damage, personal liability, or threats to client safety and security.
• Evaluate risks associated with water damage, fire, electrical systems, severe weather, natural catastrophes, homes under construction, personal security, and other exposures common to affluent homeowners.
• Deliver tailored loss prevention recommendations to reduce loss likelihood and severity while improving resilience of the home and lifestyle.
• Act as a trusted advisor by educating clients on risks, mitigation options, and informed decision‑making.
• Collaborate with brokers, clients, contractors, and service providers to implement recommended risk mitigation solutions.
• Validate and document property characteristics, construction features, protective systems, and occupancy information for underwriting accuracy.
• Develop, validate, and maintain replacement cost estimates to ensure adequate insurance‑to‑value.
• Prepare clear risk assessment reports communicating exposures, recommendations, and underwriting considerations.
