Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a HB Coding Strategic Data Analyst to transform coding and revenue cycle data into actionable insights. You will develop dashboards, KPIs, and routine reports to support leadership and drive performance, quality, and financial stewardship across the hospital coding operations.

The role emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders, use of Epic, CAC, Power BI, and other reporting tools, and is 100% remote.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in health information management, Health Informatics, or related field; or equivalent education and relevant experience.
• 3 years of data analytics experience; working knowledge of KPI management; Microsoft Office including advanced Excel; experience with Epic and CAC technology.
• AHIMA or AAPC membership is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary analytics resource for Coding Leadership transforming data into actionable insights supporting strategic and operational decision-making.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, routine reports, and ad hoc analyses related to productivity, quality, AR, budgets, vendor performance, and workflow outcomes on multiple cadences.
• Analyze coding and revenue cycle data to identify trends, risks, variances, and improvement opportunities; provide actionable recommendations to leadership and operational teams.
• Translate complex analytical findings into clear reports, presentations, and visuals for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and support reporting needs.
• Utilize Epic, CAC technology, Power BI, and Microsoft tools to evaluate system functionality, validate requirements, and coordinate testing and validation.
• Coordinate coding technology activities by documenting workflows, supporting upgrades, troubleshooting, and serving as SME for Epic and CAC workflows.
• Lead and support reporting, technology, and continuous improvement initiatives by applying project management principles and strengthening data integrity.
