Job summary

EDB seeks a senior security leader to drive Security Operations and Security Engineering, reporting to the CISO. You will own threat detection, incident response, and scalable preventives across products, cloud and acquisitions in a globally distributed, remote‑first environment.

You will decide what to build, what to automate, and where to add people as the business grows, shaping the security program for a data and AI platform used by 1,500+ customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of management experience leading security teams.
• 7+ years hands‑on experience in security operations, incident response, detection, or security engineering.
• Track record of scaling a security function through rapid growth (hiring, automation, and operating discipline).
• Strategic thinking that goes beyond the immediate scope of the role.
• Ability to translate technical risk into business impact for executives, legal, customers, and IT/Product counterparts.
• Comfort in a global, remote‑first environment with flexible schedules and on‑call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end incident response, including severity modeling and post‑action improvements.
• Oversee detection engineering and the SIEM, EDR, SOAR, and cloud security platforms.
• Define security engineering strategy with a focus on preventive controls and least privilege.
• Build insider threat programs in collaboration with HR and Legal.
• Develop automation and agentic AI to extend analyst capacity.
• Integrate acquired companies and new environments into EDB standards.
• Partner with IT and Product leadership to embed preventive controls in platforms and pipelines.
