Placements24 is seeking a highly specialized Grid Integration Specialist to join a forward-thinking team. This fully remote role focuses on the seamless integration of renewable energy into the national grid, with emphasis on stability, grid codes, and coordination with Eskom and IPPs.

You will perform technical studies, develop connection requirements, and stay current with smart grid and energy storage technologies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years in power systems engineering focusing on renewables grid integration.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software for stability and transient studies.
• Thorough understanding of grid codes, network planning, and operational challenges with renewables.
• Experience with power electronics and energy storage interaction with the grid is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for a remote role.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical studies related to the integration of renewable energy into the national grid, including stability and power quality assessments.
• Develop and refine technical requirements and guidelines for connecting distributed and utility-scale generation to the grid.
• Collaborate with grid operators (e.g., Eskom) and IPPs to resolve grid connection issues.
• Analyze grid constraints and propose solutions to enhance grid capacity and reliability for renewable energy uptake.
• Stay current with advancements in grid integration technologies, smart grid solutions, and energy storage systems.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal teams and external stakeholders.
