Job summary

Our client in Randburg, Gauteng, is seeking a Senior Grid Integration Engineer to lead interconnection studies and ensure compliant integration of wind and solar plants into the national grid. You will work with TSOs, DNOs, and external consultants to develop strategies, assess grid codes, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires a Master’s in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) with 7+ years of experience in grid integration, deep knowledge of SA grid codes, and proficiency in PSS/E,

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum 7 years' experience in power systems engineering with grid integration focus.
• In-depth knowledge of South African grid codes and connection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct grid interconnection studies, including power flow, short circuit, stability, and protection coordination studies.
• Develop and optimize grid connection strategies and technical solutions for renewable energy projects.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant grid codes, standards, and regulatory requirements in South Africa.
• Collaborate closely with transmission system operators (TSOs), distribution network operators (DNOs), and other stakeholders.
• Interface with internal engineering teams, project developers, and external consultants.
• Prepare technical reports, studies, and interconnection applications for submission to grid authorities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to grid integration during project development and construction phases.
• Stay updated on evolving grid technologies, grid codes, and market trends impacting renewable energy integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical development of the team.
