About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking energy utility company, is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Grid Integration Specialist to bolster their technical team. This fully remote position is designed for an expert who can navigate the complexities of integrating renewable energy sources into existing power grids. You will play a crucial role in ensuring grid stability, reliability, and efficiency as South Africa transitions towards a cleaner energy future. Working from anywhere in the country, you will collaborate with engineers, planners, and policy advisors to develop and implement cutting-edge grid integration strategies. This role demands a deep understanding of power systems engineering, renewable energy technologies, and regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator, adept at analyzing complex data and providing strategic recommendations to facilitate the seamless incorporation of diverse energy assets into the national grid. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and assess the impact of renewable energy generation (solar, wind, storage) on grid stability and performance.
• Develop and implement technical solutions for effective grid integration of distributed and utility-scale energy resources.
• Create grid connection studies, including power flow, short circuit, and transient stability analyses.
• Collaborate with grid operators, power system planners, and technology providers to ensure compliance with grid codes and interconnection standards.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies for advanced grid management and control.
• Develop operational procedures and guidelines for integrating variable renewable energy sources.
• Prepare technical reports, present findings to stakeholders, and contribute to strategic energy planning.
• Provide expert advice on grid codes, interconnection agreements, and regulatory requirements related to renewable energy.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in power system analysis, grid operations, or renewable energy integration.
• Strong proficiency in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, or equivalent.
• Comprehensive knowledge of grid codes, interconnection standards, and power market operations.
• Understanding of renewable energy technologies (PV, wind, battery storage) and their characteristics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
• Demonstrated experience in developing technical recommendations and reports for complex power system challenges.
