Job summary

GovCIO seeks a Cloud Data & Automation Engineer to support migration and ongoing management of a large evidentiary data environment in AWS GovCloud. Focus areas include data migration, automation, S3 lifecycle, and secure data movement across AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments.

The role requires strong Python and AWS CLI skills, plus experience with DataSync, NetApp ONTAP/SnapMirror, and terabyte-to-petabyte datasets. Clearances and FedRAMP familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 8+ years of experience
• 5+ years of cloud engineering, data engineering, or cloud automation
• 3+ years hands-on AWS experience
• Experience in AWS GovCloud or comparable regulated cloud environments
• Strong Python scripting and AWS CLI experience
• Hands-on experience with S3, DataSync, and archival solutions
• Experience with NetApp ONTAP/SnapMirror and large-scale data migrations
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python and AWS CLI automation for cloud data operations
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot large-scale data migration and transfer workflows
• Support AWS DataSync workflows for high-volume data transfers
• Configure and manage Amazon S3 storage and lifecycle policies
• Implement and support S3/Glacier archival and retrieval workflows
• Support NetApp ONTAP and SnapMirror replication activities
• Migrate active datasets to FSx ONTAP and historical datasets to S3/Glacier
• Automate data movement, synchronization, validation, archival, and retrieval processes
• Monitor and troubleshoot large-scale data transfers, synchronization, storage, and performance issues
• Manage and optimize cloud storage, transfer, archival, and retrieval costs
• Support secure data flows between AWS, Azure, and VA on-premises systems
• Develop scripts, runbooks, and technical documentation
• Coordinate with cloud infrastructure engineers and VA/agency teams
• Establish repeatable processes for large-scale evidentiary data in the cloud
