Job summary

GovCIO seeks a Cloud Data & Automation Engineer to migrate and manage a large evidentiary data environment in AWS GovCloud. The role emphasizes data migration, automation, and secure data movement across AWS, Azure, and on-premises systems.

The candidate should have strong Python, AWS CLI, S3/Glacier, DataSync, and NetApp ONTAP/SnapMirror experience to implement archival, retrieval, and replication workflows at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 8+ years of related experience.
• 5+ years in cloud engineering, data engineering, or cloud automation.
• 3+ years hands-on AWS experience.
• Experience in AWS GovCloud or regulated cloud environments.
• Strong Python scripting and AWS CLI experience.
• Hands-on with Amazon S3 and S3/Glacier lifecycle policies.
• Experience with large-scale data migrations and terabyte-to-petabyte datasets.
• Knowledge of cloud data lifecycle management and cost optimization.
• Ability to obtain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python and AWS CLI automation for cloud data operations.
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot large-scale data migration and transfer workflows.
• Support AWS DataSync workflows for high-volume data transfers.
• Configure and manage Amazon S3 storage and lifecycle policies.
• Implement S3/Glacier archival and retrieval workflows.
• Support NetApp ONTAP and SnapMirror replication activities.
• Migrate active datasets to FSx ONTAP and historical data to S3/Glacier.
• Automate data movement, synchronization, validation, archival, and retrieval processes.
• Monitor and troubleshoot high-volume data transfers, storage, and performance.
• Manage cloud storage, transfer, archival, and retrieval costs.
• Support secure data flows between AWS, Azure, and on-premises systems.
• Develop scripts, runbooks, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with cloud infra engineers and VA teams.
