Job summary

ABB seeks a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Commissioning Engineer to lead on-site commissioning of GIS and RMU systems, ensuring safety and highest technical standards. You will influence customer projects with strong problem-solving and on-site leadership.

The role is Remote in the US and contributes to ABB's Center of Excellence in the United States, with responsibility to mentor junior engineers and interact with customers, EPCs, and ABB teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of commissioning and field engineering experience.
• Strong experience with ABB GIS ZX Portfolio and RMU SafeRing/SafePlus.
• Experience with ABB Protection & Control platforms ZEE600, SSC600, PCM600.
• Willingness to travel 40-50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning of ABB GIS and RMU systems per ABB standards and IEEE/IEC/ANSI requirements.
• Create commissioning work plans, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and MOPs.
• Support execution and manage commissioning activities through energization and customer acceptance.
• Support FAT and IFAT activities and interface with customers, EPCs, utilities and ABB teams.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
