ABB in the United States is seeking a GIS Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning of medium-voltage GIS and RMU systems. You will create work plans, perform energization, and ensure compliance with IEEE/IEC/ANSI requirements while coordinating with customers and ABB teams.

The role emphasizes onsite leadership, complex problem solving, and mentoring junior engineers, with a remote-work model in the US and travel up to 40–50% to project sites.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Extensive commissioning and field engineering background.
• Familiarity with ABB GIS/RMU platforms and protection software.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning of ABB GIS and RMU per standards and IEEE/IEC/ANSI.
• Create work plans, cost estimates, schedules, and MOPs.
• Coordinate commissioning through energization and acceptance.
• Support FAT/IFAT activities.
• Interface with customers, EPCs, utilities, and ABB teams.
• Identify risks and lead mitigation actions.
• Support contracts with technical input on scope and claims.
• Perform site visits and mentor junior engineers.
