Job summary

ABB is seeking a GIS Commissioning Engineer to lead medium-voltage GIS and RMU commissioning, ensuring safety, accuracy and top technical standards. This remote-US role centers on complex customer projects with onsite leadership and collaboration across ABB teams.

You will create work plans, participate in FAT/IFAT, and travel 40–50% to client sites, mentoring junior engineers and supporting contracts with technical input. ABB offers robust benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

BS EE or equivalent experience.
10+ years of commissioning and field engineering experience.
Experience with ABB GIS (ZX Portfolio) and RMU (SafeRing / SafePlus).
Experience with ABB Protection & Control platforms (ZEE600, SSC600, PCM600).
Knowledge of generator paralleling systems and critical power infrastructure.
Proficient technical writing for commissioning documentation.
Ability to travel 40-50%.

Responsibilities

Lead commissioning of ABB GIS and RMU systems per ABB standards and IEEE/IEC/ANSI requirements.
Create commissioning work plans, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and MOPs.
Support execution and manage commissioning activities through energization and customer acceptance.
Support FAT and IFAT activities.
Interface with customers, EPCs, utilities, and ABB teams.
Identify commissioning risks and lead mitigation actions.
Support contract managers with technical input on scope and claims.
Perform site visits to support commissioning teams.
Mentor and develop junior engineers.
