Job summary

The Hartford in Hartford, CT is seeking a General Liability Litigation Team Leader to guide a tenured staff across the Western region. You will lead approximately 7 General Liability Litigation Claim Handlers with inventories, and drive investigations, determinations and settlements in line with policy.

You will train, coach and develop staff, manage performance, and act as a technical resource while aligning with HR policies and customer service excellence in a hybrid/remote setup.

Qualifications

• Prior high exposure general liability claims and litigation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of contracts and contractual indemnification.
• Understanding of coverage and risk transfer.
• College degree preferred.
• CPCU, AIC, SCLA or other designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leading approximately 7 General Liability Litigation Claim Handlers with inventories.
• Training, coaching and developing staff to achieve goals.
• Managing investigations, liability determinations and settlements per policy.
• Guiding change and explaining drivers and business goals.
• Evaluating and managing staff performance.
• Serving as a technical resource for GL Litigation Handlers.
• Analyzing General Liability coverage forms and related risks.
• Leading diverse staff with focus on development and experience.
• Emphasizing customer service and independent issue resolution.
• Adhering to HR policies and administration in operations.
• Communicating clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
• Partnering with Agents, Brokers, Sales and Product teams.
