Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Senior Representative Claims to lead and manage complex general liability claims while ensuring superior customer service. You will investigate, reserve, value, and settle claims, develop strategies, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to achieve fair outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 2–5+ years in general liability claims, strong communication and negotiation skills, and a college degree (JD/SCLA/CPCU a plus).

Qualifications

• 2 to 5+ years relevant experience managing general liability claims strongly preferred
• Technical expertise in managing claims of high complexity
• Strong computer proficiency in utilizing software programs
• Excellent communication skills, oral, written, collaboration and negotiation
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Effective customer service skills
• Adept at managing conflict as an opportunity to listen and share information while negotiating a win/win outcome that supports The Hartford's and the claimant’s best interests
• Leader among claim handlers providing advanced expertise to teammates in solving problems
• College degree preferred or 5+ years relevant work experience required
• Consistent high level of performance and achievement over career span
• State required certification exams and adjusting licenses
• JD, SCLA or CPCU designation a plus

Responsibilities

• Investigate, reserve, and settle assigned claims according to policy.
• Assess exposure and plan file strategies including investigation, valuation, disposition and settlement.
• Maintain current knowledge of claim loss cost management initiatives and apply them.
• Develop advanced knowledge to interpret and apply insurance coverage.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to support claims management.
• Provide leadership and support to teammates to build a high performing team.
