Job summary

CAI is seeking a Python/GenAI Developer to build and support Python-based backend services and AI solutions leveraging LLMs, RAG, FastAPI, and Google Cloud technologies. The role focuses on delivering secure, scalable, and reliable AI-enabled applications while collaborating with stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

This position is contract and remote. Responsibilities include designing APIs, building Generative AI workflows, implementing retrieval pipelines on Vertex AI,

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-7 years of software development experience with Python backend development.
• 1-2 years of Generative AI and LLM-based apps experience.
• 1-2 years of practical experience with RAG solutions incl. embeddings and retrieval.
• Experience building REST APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Hands-on with Google Cloud Platform services (Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Vertex AI, BigQuery).
• Experience with cloud-native development including Docker and CI/CD.
• Experience with Agile delivery teams and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based backend services and APIs for AI-enabled apps.
• Build Generative AI workflows using LLMs and RAG pipelines.
• Develop FastAPI-based REST endpoints and integration with enterprise apps.
• Implement retrieval workflows using Vertex AI, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub and Secret Manager.
• Handle data processing for structured/unstructured inputs and downstream persistence.
• Support testing, deployment, logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting in dev/QA.
• Collaborate with architects, cloud teams, product owners to translate requirements into features.
• Contribute to prompt engineering, validation, error handling, and reliability improvements.
