Job summary

Provenir seeks an experienced Software Engineer to build and enhance cloud-native backend services in Python. Focus on reliable APIs, scalable architecture, and opportunities in generative AI.

Ideal candidates have strong backend fundamentals, experience with FastAPI, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS, plus a willingness to work in a remote-friendly setting with monthly in-person meetings in the NYC metro area. U.S. work authorization required.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Python development skills, including production backend services and APIs.
• Experience with modern Python frameworks, preferably FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of OOP, maintainable code, and automated testing (pytest/unittest).
• Experience developing and supporting cloud-based or multi-tenant SaaS applications.
• Experience designing REST APIs and reusable backend components.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized development.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native deployment environments.
• Experience with AWS services (EKS, S3, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, monitoring, and production support.
• Understanding of scalability, resilience, security, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python-based backend services and APIs.
• Build reusable components for a cloud-native SaaS product.
• Integrate internal services, external APIs, and third-party platforms.
• Develop containerized services that run in Kubernetes on AWS.
• Improve scalability, resilience, security, monitoring, and ops support.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver capabilities.
• Contribute to software design, code reviews, testing, and engineering standards.
• Support services throughout their lifecycle from design to production.
• Apply generative AI and large language models to new product capabilities where appropriate.
• Help develop AI-enabled workflows, intelligent agents, and reusable GenAI components.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies for safe, effective platform integration.
