Job summary

The Trevor Project is seeking Crisis Workers to provide compassionate crisis counseling to LGBTQ+ youth through TrevorText, TrevorChat, TrevorLifeline, and 988 services. The role supports high-quality crisis response with administrative duties to ensure continuous service.

This remote, full-time position reports to the Team Lead and is unionized. Starting pay is $26 per hour, with benefits including health coverage, retirement, paid time off, and monthly internet reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Experience in crisis care, contact center, or customer care setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proficiency in spoken and written English with strong communication and active listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide suicide prevention and crisis intervention counseling to LGBTQ+ youth nationwide via text and chat, and/or phone calls.
• Adhere to performance measures with regard to handle time and utilization as defined by leadership.
• Follow protocols related to taking time off and work with a team of Crisis Counselors (Volunteer and Staff).
• Build trust and provide a safer space for youth to explore issues surrounding sexuality and gender identity.
