Dimagi, a mission-driven technology company, is seeking a full-stack Software Engineer II to contribute to the CommCare platform and related development initiatives. The role is remote, with prioritization for candidates in the Greater Boston area and an in‑person interview at our CIC Cambridge office.

You will join a team delivering scalable software used by frontline workers worldwide. Ideal candidates have 4+ years of experience, are fluent in Python and English, and can work autonomously

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development experience.
• Fluent in Python.
• Proven background in building quality software for the web.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactively manages own work and surfaces blockers early.
• Able to work autonomously and prioritize tasks.
• Familiarity with Python, Django, Postgres, Elasticsearch, and front-end stack.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code).
• Interest in public health and international development.
• Familiarity with open‑source technology.
• (bonus) Data engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Build new features and improve existing features with modern practices (CI, tests, daily deploys).
• Collaborate with multicultural teams around the globe.
• Build software usable by groups facing challenges (remote locations, low literacy).
• Brainstorm and surface ideas to improve design and development processes.
• Deliver product features as part of a team.
• Act as a resource to other developers on areas of expertise.
• Contribute to code reviews and provide feedback.
• Maintain code quality and set an example for junior engineers.
• Identify areas for improvement and propose solutions to engineering managers.
