Job summary

Vessel Advisors seeks a Controller for the construction industry to work remotely in the USA. You will own month-end close for multiple entities and advise clients to improve financial performance.

Requires construction financing expertise, PCM, and experience with Sage Intacct and Procore. This is a full-time W-2 role starting around $95,000 annually, with responsibilities across financial discovery, process improvements, and coordination with external firms.

Qualifications

• 8+ years as a Chief Accounting Officer or Controller in Private Business.
• 8+ years of financial software experience (Sage Intacct and Quickbooks required; Deltek ComputerEase, Procore, and BuilderTrend are a plus).
• Expertise in construction-specific accounting methods (Percentage of Completion Method/PCM).
• Experience in banking partner evaluation and positioning a company for credit facility or Line of Credit eligibility.
• Excellent written and verbal communication (Slack, or email).

Responsibilities

• Ownership of month-end close schedules for multiple entities, transitioning manual workbooks to automated reporting.
• Lead Financial Discovery Assessments to identify cleanup needs and process improvements for high-revenue organizations.
• Manage interface between client leadership, construction teams, and outsourced tax or accounting firms for accurate expense coding.
• Develop and maintain property-level performance metrics and sophisticated financial modeling for institutional equity partners.
• Strengthen internal controls over cash management and oversight of lien release/waiver tracking.
