Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Exchange team to set architectural direction for the matching engine, order management, market data, and related systems that power billions in daily volume.

You'll own technical strategy across multiple teams, mentor senior engineers, and drive latency-sensitive, event-sourced trading systems across cloud and colocated environments while delivering scalable, reliable platforms.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with ownership of production trading or market-data systems.
• Experience building latency-sensitive, distributed trading platforms across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for a core Exchange domain.
• Lead design of ultra-low-latency trading systems across matching, risk, and market data.
• Drive cross-team alignment across Exchange, Prime, and Derivatives.
• Set and inspect the quality bar with deterministic testing and 24/7 operational standards.
• Mentor senior engineers and grow technical leadership.
