Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Access & Authorization team in the Platform group. You will design and operate authentication and authorization capabilities that span across Coinbase's products and partner integrations.

You will build low-latency Go services with gRPC, design secure APIs, and work with product, security, and infrastructure teams to balance security with user experience and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with Go or a comparable systems language.
• Experience designing secure APIs and handling authentication/authorization (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWTs, PKCE).
• Proficiency with gRPC and data stores like Redis or DynamoDB, plus observability and SLOs.
• Track record delivering complex cross-functional projects from design to production.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design, implementation, and operation of authentication, OAuth, sessions, tokens, 2FA, account recovery, and edge authorization.
