Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Access & Authorization team within the Platform group. You will design and operate authentication, OAuth, sessions, tokens, 2FA, and edge authorization to secure access across Coinbase products and partner integrations.

You'll build low-latency Go services, collaborate with product, security, fraud, and infrastructure teams, and mentor engineers while upholding strong observability and SLOs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience designing secure APIs and managing authentication/authorization.
• Proficiency with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Redis or DynamoDB.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Responsible use of AI to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design, implementation, and operation of authentication, OAuth, sessions, tokens, 2FA, account recovery, and edge authorization.
• Build secure, low-latency Go services used across Coinbase's web, mobile, API, and partner experiences with strong observability and SLOs.
• Lead technical designs for complex initiatives such as signed tokens, passkeys, biometric recovery, and device-aware authentication.
• Collaborate with product, security, fraud, and infrastructure teams to balance user experience, protection, and compliance.
• Create self-service tooling to enable product teams to adopt access controls safely at scale.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, pairing, and on-call participation.
