Job summary

The American Physical Society (APS) seeks a Sales Contract Manager – Publishing to lead the contract lifecycle for institutional sales and licensing compliance. You’ll coordinate with Sales, Sales Operations, Finance, and Legal, utilizing AI and CRM tools to move deals from proposal to signature.

The role emphasizes remote-first work within the United States, with support for occasional travel. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in contract management, publishing experience, and strong licensing

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management, paralegal work or related roles (publishing, contract or library administration).
• Experience at a publishing firm or association is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of scholarly publishing contracts, licensing, and negotiation.
• Proficient knowledge of Open Access knowledge and publishing trends.
• Advanced data analysis and software proficiency (CRM, Salesforce, MS Office Suite, Google Suite).
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contract lifecycle for institutional subscriptions and special deals.
• Collaborate with Sales Support and Support teams on licenses for single-site licenses.
• Handle inquiries regarding contract terms per APS policy and standards.
• Ensure accurate contract data in CRM (Salesforce).
• Manage licensing AI tool (IVO) and update licensing SOPs.
• Review licensing terms for special deals (Consortia, Open Access).
• Serve as primary contact for legal, finance, and sales to retrieve agreements or analyze data.
• Track license expirations and renewals with automated alerts.
• Draft complex license agreements and review supplier/P.O. terms.
