Job summary

Confidential, a venture-backed developer platform, is hiring its first dedicated Controller for a remote-first, multi-state team in the United States. You will own day-to-day accounting operations, enabling the CFO to focus on strategy, fundraising, and planning.

This hands-on IC role reports to the CFO and shapes how our finance function scales. You will lead monthly close, GL management, revenue accounting, audit preparation, and investor reporting, with influence over internal controls and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience as a Controller or senior Assistant Controller with independent close ownership.
Experience at venture-backed startups (Series A–C) building or rebuilding accounting processes.

Responsibilities

Own the monthly close end-to-end, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and reconciliations.
Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts as the business grows.
Manage spend, AP, and expense workflows in Ramp or similar platforms.
Own revenue accounting and AR for a usage-based business, including deferred revenue.
Produce monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual reporting for CFO/leadership.
Support board reporting, fundraising diligence, and investor requests with timely numbers.
Prepare for and manage annual financial audit with CPAs on tax filings and 1099s.
Account for payroll, benefits, and equity across a remote, multi-state team.
Design and document internal controls and accounting policies.
