Job summary

Refacture Inc. seeks a seasoned Fractional Controller to oversee financial reporting, GAAP compliance, and financial controls while collaborating with our accounting team.

The role focuses on oversight and reporting rather than day-to-day bookkeeping, with experience supporting venture-backed startups, SAFE notes, international subsidiaries, grant funding, and capital projects.

Remote work with US preference; initial engagement around 15 hours per month, independent contractor arrangement.

Qualifications

• CPA or equivalent accounting qualification.
• 7+ years accounting experience with venture-backed startups or technology companies.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP financial reporting.
• Experience with SAFE notes and convertible securities accounting; startup equity structures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly accounting and ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Review financial statements including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow.
• Guide venture accounting for SAFE notes, equity issuances, and intercompany transactions.
• Review CIP and capitalization decisions under ASC 360/ASC 730.
• Support consolidation of foreign subsidiary financials and currency considerations.
• Provide guidance on government grants and grant-funded capital expenditures.
• Maintain internal controls and audit trails within the ERP system.
• Collaborate with CEO, bookkeeping team, and external CPA firm.
