Job summary

Protect Democracy seeks a Finance Operations Specialist to join our small, highly collaborative Finance team. You will own significant portions of the contract-to-payment lifecycle and coordinate cross-functional workflows from Finance review through vendor setup, purchase orders, invoice review, payment, renewal, and closeout.

This hands-on role requires understanding how transactions connect to budgets and reporting, with a remote-first policy across the United States.

Qualifications

• Approximately 4–7 years of relevant professional experience in finance operations, accounting operations, procurement, accounts payable, or a related field.
• Experience owning processes or workstreams and project-managing cross-functional work across financial entities.

Responsibilities

• Own significant portions of the contract-to-payment lifecycle, coordinating cross-functional workflows from Finance review and contract execution through vendor setup, PO, invoice review, payment, renewal, and closeout.
• Develop knowledge of budgets and spending commitments to review proposed spending and maintain records.
• Review and process invoices, reimbursements, and card transactions with proper documentation and approvals.
• Project-manage Finance Operations initiatives, coordinating stakeholders, timelines, decisions, dependencies, and execution through completion.
• Design and improve Finance systems, workflows, controls, integrations, and procedures.
• Provide finance partner support to staff and vendors and escalate as needed.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis by maintaining committed-spend information and linking spending to financial plans.
• Contribute to year-end, audits, reporting, and system implementations.
