Protect Democracy is seeking a Finance Operations Specialist to manage the financial lifecycle from budget and contracts through PO, invoice, and payment, serving as a finance partner across departments.

The role requires owning cross-functional processes, understanding how transactions tie to budgets and reporting, and building efficient systems to support the organization’s mission.

Qualifications

• Approximately 4–7 years of relevant professional experience in finance operations, accounting operations, procurement, accounts payable, or a related field.
• Experience owning processes or workstreams and managing cross-functional work across financial entities.
• Understanding how operational transactions affect the general ledger and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own significant portions of the contract-to-payment lifecycle, coordinating cross-functional workflows.
• Develop knowledge of budgets and spending commitments to review proposed spending.
• Review and process invoices, reimbursements, and card transactions with proper documentation and coding.
• Project-manage Finance Operations initiatives from planning to completion.
• Design and improve Finance systems, workflows, and controls including ramps and help desk processes.
• Serve as a Finance partner to staff and vendors, escalating as needed.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and analysis by maintaining committed-spend information.
• Contribute to year-end, audit, reporting, and systems implementation.
