Job summary

ZEISS in Canada is seeking a Field Service Technician, Level I, to learn installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of Coordinate Measuring Machines and related metrology equipment. This entry-level role operates at customer sites across Canada, with training under senior technicians.

You will build knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and computer-controlled systems, read technical drawings, and contribute to service documentation while helping

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree in electronics, electromechanical engineering technology, industrial mechanics, mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
• Equivalent combination of relevant technical training and practical work experience may be considered.
• Experience with CMMs, metrology equipment is considered an asset.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, electronic, and computer aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, drawings, and instructions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and customer-service focus.

Responsibilities

• Develop proficiency in installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and related metrology equipment.
• Assist senior technicians with equipment installations, customer service calls, preventive maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Document service and calibration activities, maintaining accurate records and reporting follow-up actions.
• Maintain tools, spare parts, and inventory, ensuring safe handling and storage.
