Job summary

Oxford Instruments is seeking a Field Service Engineer I – Plasma Technology to support plasma etch and deposition systems across North America. The role entails installation, commissioning, preventive and corrective maintenance, and hands-on customer training with frequent travel to customer sites.

You will diagnose complex issues, work across teams, and ensure system readiness and uptime while upholding safety and cleanroom standards. Remote support and in-person service are both required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field.
  • 5–7 years field service in semiconductor equipment with plasma systems.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom safety and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation and commissioning of plasma etch and deposition systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to tight specs.
  • Engage customers with training and hands‑on operation guidance.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and provide remote support as needed.
  • Calibrate components and assist in system upgrades to boost uptime.
