Job summary

Oxford Instruments is seeking a Field Service Engineer II for Plasma Technology who will deliver installation, maintenance, and support for advanced plasma etch and deposition equipment across North America. The role requires extensive travel and hands-on problem solving with strong technical acumen.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, 5–7 years of field service experience in semiconductor equipment, and familiarity with cleanroom operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5–7 years field service experience in semiconductor equipment.
  • Hands-on vacuum, RF, and plasma system knowledge with cleanroom familiarity.
  • Experience reading schematics for mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation and commissioning of plasma etch and deposition systems, ensuring customer specs, cleanroom standards, and readiness.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance with precise diagnostics and validation against vacuum tolerances and process benchmarks.
  • Engage with customers, provide hands-on training, and build long-term relationships for sustained uptime and support.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues using specialized tools, and provide remote support to minimize downtime.
  • Calibrate components and implement upgrades to ensure system reliability and throughput.
