Job summary

Oxford Instruments is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain and support plasma etch and deposition systems across customer sites in North America. This hands-on role requires travel, precise diagnostics and strong communication with customers to ensure system readiness and uptime.

You will work across RIE, CVD, ICP platforms, perform preventive/corrective maintenance, calibrations, and upgrades, and document activities to support continuous improvement in semiconductor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/ mechanical engineering, physics, or related field.
• 3–5 years of field service in semiconductor industry focusing on plasma etch & deposition systems.
• Familiarity with cleanroom operations and safety protocols.
• Equivalent hands-on experience may substitute for a degree.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission advanced plasma etch and deposition systems, ensuring compliance with specifications and cleanroom standards.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance with diagnostics and repairs to meet vacuum and process tolerances.
• Engage with customers, provide hands-on training, and build long-term relationships.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues using diagnostic tools and remote support.
• Calibrate components and implement upgrades to improve reliability and throughput.
