Job summary

Actalent in Massachusetts is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, calibrate, and validate advanced analytical instrumentation at customer sites, including remote support when needed.

You will diagnose and repair technical issues, perform IQ/OQ/PQ activities, and ensure instrument uptime while delivering exceptional customer service across biotech, pharma, and academic labs. Willingness to travel 50%–75% is required. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or life sciences.
At least 3 years' experience servicing laboratory instrumentation.
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills; willing to travel.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, calibrate, repair, and validate lab instruments at customer sites.
Perform preventive maintenance and corrective service to ensure reliability.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, optical, and software issues and implement fixes.
Support IQ/OQ/PQ activities and document service actions.
Provide technical support via phone, email, and on-site visits.
Document activities and maintenance in CRM and quality systems.
Collaborate with engineering, sales, and product teams to relay feedback.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive service.
Manage travel schedules and submit service/expense reports.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
