Job summary

Oxford Instruments plc is seeking a Field Service Engineer to deliver installation, maintenance and support for microscopy systems across North America. The role requires hands‑on problem solving, clear communication and frequent travel to customer sites.

The candidate will lead system installation, perform training, and diagnose complex hardware and software issues while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure optimal system performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related field.
3–5 years of field service experience in microscopy or analytical instrumentation.
Valid driver’s license, passport, and willingness to travel for customer installations.

Responsibilities

Lead installation and commissioning of systems, ensuring compliance with factory specs.
Perform User Familiarization Training at installations.
Execute scheduled and emergency maintenance, diagnose root causes and verify repairs.
Build trust with customers through responsive communication and on-site training.
Provide remote support to minimize downtime and maximize uptime.
Calibrate components and implement upgrades for reliability and throughput.
