Job summary

Service Express in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Field Service Engineer to diagnose and repair data center hardware on-site across a 120-mile territory. You’ll respond to system failures, perform testing and analysis, and manage parts and schedules within SLA.

You’ll drive your own vehicle (reimbursed), work Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, and participate in after-hours on-call. Candidates should have OEM hardware experience, strong troubleshooting, valid driver's license, and readiness to lift heavy equipment

Qualifications

• Experience working with OEM data center hardware and ability to grasp new products/concepts.
• Field service experience in customer sites.
• Strong troubleshooting skills; CompTIA A+ and Server+ preferred.
• Availability for after hours, on‑call rotation to support customer needs.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and an appropriate driving record based on the position travel requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, pull, lift, squat, reach, bend, and stoop to equipment, parts, and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls and diagnose hardware issues.
• Perform on-site testing, repair, and system analysis.
• Manage parts inventory and coordinate with support center.
• Document work and complete audit forms and timesheets.
• Communicate status with customers and support teams during repair.
• Follow SLA and repair procedures; assess customer needs and future requirements.
