Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Field Claims Specialist to investigate and resolve moderate to severe property damage claims by phone and in person. The role covers the Southern Mississippi area with day travel to policy locations and possible overnight travel.

You will inspect properties, determine coverages, adjust reserves, and deliver exceptional customer service while adhering to company procedures. A valid driver’s license and CAT readiness are required.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of insurance field/property claims handling or adjusting experience.
• Solid experience writing own estimates and handling claims start to finish.
• Construction background/experience – Residential, Roofing, Remodeling, Water mitigation, etc.
• Strong customer service competency and communication skills.
• CAT duty is a requirement of this role.

Responsibilities

• Handle assigned claims promptly with minimal direction and oversight.
• Determine policy coverages and apply claims practices per guidelines.
• Open/close reserves and maintain file adequacy per procedures.
• Stay current on industry guidelines, product changes and local repair pricing.
• Coordinate with SIU and Subrogation to identify fraud and subrogation opportunities.
• Provide outstanding customer service to Nationwide customers.
