Job summary

Farmers Insurance in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Field Property Adjuster to conduct investigations at policyholder residences, assess damage, and negotiate fair settlements. The role includes travel from home to and from policy holder locations and requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to work in the field.

Starting wage is $27.67/hr or higher, with additional compensation based on experience. Eligible candidates live in the greater Portland area and Oregon state residents.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment.
• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
• Construction or Insurance experience is highly desirable and preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Proficiency with smartphones and applications.
• Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
• Outgoing personality that enjoys interacting with a wide variety of people.

Responsibilities

• Conduct both virtual and on-site investigations by visiting policyholders’ residences to assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements.
• Use claims handling software, a company car, and a laptop to determine claims-related damage and write estimates in a paperless environment.
• Evaluate and report on potential subrogation opportunities.
• Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to appropriate state and industry agencies.
• Perform duties independently, with work directly impacting management outcomes.
• Act as a company representative in public interactions, maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Engage regularly with stakeholders including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, investigators, attorneys, medical professionals.
• Negotiate with policyholders to settle the claim using strong customer service skills.
• Promote safety and comply with company standards.
