Job summary

Farmers Insurance is seeking a Field Property Adjuster to conduct on-site and virtual investigations of property damage, determine liability, and negotiate settlements. The role involves traveling to policyholder homes across Ohio and working in a field-based environment.

You will use claims software, a company car, and a laptop to compile estimates, with regular collaboration among policyholders, agents, and investigators. A high school diploma and strong customer service are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Construction or Insurance experience highly desirable and preferred.
• Computer literate: MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Proficiency with smartphones and applications.
• Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
• Outgoing personality to interact with a wide variety of people.
• Pass a minimum passing score on all claims training exams.
• Physical requirements: lifting up to 50 lbs. and related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations by visiting policyholders’ residences to assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate loss extent, and negotiate fair settlements.
• Use claims handling software, a company car, and a laptop to write estimates in a paperless environment.
• Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to state and industry agencies.
• Engage with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Negotiate with policyholders to settle claims.
• Be prepared for CAT deployments and travel within assigned territory.
