Job summary

Farmers Insurance in Madison, WI is seeking a Field Property Adjuster to conduct investigations at policyholder residences, assess property damage, determine liability, and negotiate settlements. The role requires travel to and from homes in the Madison area, with a company vehicle and laptop provided for paperless claims processing.

You will engage with policyholders, claimants, agents, and other stakeholders, delivering professional service and accurate estimates.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment.
• Construction or Insurance experience is highly desirable and preferred.
• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
• Computer literate: MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Proficiency with smartphones and applications.
• Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage from the inside out.

Responsibilities

• Conduct both virtual and on-site investigations by visiting policyholders’ residences to assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements.
• Use claims handling software, a company car, and a laptop to determine claims-related damage and write estimates in a paperless environment.
• Evaluate and report on potential subrogation opportunities.
• Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to appropriate state and industry agencies.
• Perform duties independently, with work directly impacting management outcomes.
• Engage regularly with a variety of stakeholders, including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, investigators, attorneys, and medical professionals.
• Negotiate with policyholders to settle the claim using strong customer service skills.
• Promote safety and comply with safety/ergonomic standards.
