Job summary

Farmers Insurance is hiring a Field Property Adjuster in Jackson, MS. This remote-friendly field role requires travel to policyholder homes and substantial independence as you assess property damage, determine liability, and negotiate settlements.

You will work with claims software, company vehicle, and a laptop to document estimates and outcomes, with opportunities for subrogation evaluation and cross-agency coordination.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment.
• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
• Proficiency with smartphones and applications.
• Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage to identify how coverage applies to a particular loss.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations by visiting policyholders’ residences to assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate loss extent, and negotiate fair settlements.
• Use claims handling software, company vehicle, and laptop to write estimates in a paperless environment.
• Evaluate and report on potential subrogation opportunities.
• Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to appropriate state and industry agencies.
• Perform duties independently, with work directly impacting management outcomes.
• Engage with stakeholders including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, investigators, attorneys, and medical professionals.
