Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a Field Technician to perform end-to-end fiber characterization and testing for metro and long-haul fiber networks. You will be responsible for measuring fiber connectivity, interpreting OTDR results, and ensuring accurate documentation while meeting deployment timelines.

The role requires collaboration with project management, vendors, and internal teams, with travel to customer facilities. Remote work is possible with occasional on-site visits to client sites.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical equivalent required.
• Experience with ISP/OSP fiber infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of fiber characterization and testing.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing to gauge cable connectivity and fiber characterization.
• Analyze field test results to identify points of failure.
• Maintain project documentation and schedules.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to meet delivery targets.
• Ensure proper grounding, power, and rack layouts at sites.
• Prepare reports on fiber cable, strand and network testing.
