Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a Field Technician to perform end-to-end fiber characterization and testing in support of network fiber services (metro dark fiber, long haul networks). The role acts as the service provider to a CommScope customer, ensuring technical accuracy, policy compliance and high customer satisfaction.

You will manage day-to-day fiber testing, coordinate with vendors and internal teams, and communicate target completion dates with project management.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field (e.g., computer science, network engineering).
• Experience with ISP and OSP fiber infrastructure.
• Strong OTDR testing knowledge and ability to interpret results.
• Experience in fiber optic cable design and implementation projects.
• Strong understanding of fiber types and splicing methodologies.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing to gauge cable connectivity, fiber characterization, and overall fiber network performance.
• Perform field analysis of test results to identify points of failure.
• Maintain project documentation and ensure schedules are met.
• Ensure site delivery with grounding, power, rack layout, routing, cooling, and POE considerations.
• Maintain records and prepare reports relevant to fiber cable and network testing.
