Job summary

GCS Recruitment seeks an experienced Senior Fiber Engineer to support OTDR analysis, testing, and remediation across ISP/OSP environments. You will perform fiber characterization, bidirectional testing, and document findings to ensure network reliability.

Required: 5+ years in fiber optics, ISP/OSP experience, fusion splicing, and strong documentation skills. Occasional travel to customer sites will be needed. Remote work option available for a contract role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Fiber Optics or Telecommunications.
• Experience with ISP and OSP fiber networks.
• Strong expertise with OTDR testing and troubleshooting.
• Experience performing CD/PMD, bidirectional, and power meter/laser testing.
• Knowledge of fusion splicing, fiber repair, and remediation.
• Experience with fiber end-face inspection and cleaning.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel as required for field work.

Responsibilities

• Perform OTDR testing to validate fiber paths and identify faults, splices, bends, and signal loss.
• Conduct fiber characterization, bidirectional testing, and power/loss analysis.
• Troubleshoot fiber network issues and recommend remediation solutions.
• Perform fusion splicing and fiber repairs as needed.
• Prepare test reports, redlined fiber documentation, and demarcation maps.
• Coordinate with vendors, project managers, and internal teams to support project execution.
• Travel to customer sites for testing, troubleshooting, and remediation activities.
