Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a Field Technician to support end-to-end fiber characterization for fiber networks. The role is remote with travel to customer facilities and involves testing, analysis, and ensuring project timelines.

You will collaborate with project management and vendors to meet deployment targets, document results, and ensure compliance with grounding, power, and safety standards. Strong OTDR knowledge and telecommunications expertise are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, network engineering or related field experience.
• Experience working with ISP and OSP physical fiber infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge testing fiber with OTDR, understanding and interpreting OTDR test results.
• Experience in fiber optic cable design and implementation projects.
• Strong understanding of both fiber and telecommunications projects.
• Strong understanding of fiber types and fiber splicing methodology.
• Excellent communications and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day fiber testing and testing results.
• Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to meet standards.
• Communicate target completion dates with project management.
• Ensure adherence to grounding, power, rack layout, routing and cooling.
• Maintain project documentation and reports.
• Support remote field operations and customer facilities.
