Job summary

UL Solutions in the United States is seeking a Field Engineer to join our Product Safety Field Evaluation Team. This home-based role centers on Chicago and Northbrook, IL, with travel to client sites as needed to conduct on-site product evaluations and reviews.

You will read UL requirements, develop test methods, coordinate with clients and AHJs, manage project scope, and ensure timely completion under minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Expert knowledge of NEC, Building Codes, regulatory standards.
• 8 years of directly related engineering experience.
• Experience with electrical test equipment and field evaluations.
• Strong written and verbal communication and remote-work ability.

Responsibilities

• Independently determines project scope and plan for field evaluations.
• Travel to client sites, including international travel, to conduct evaluations.
• Communicate with clients and AHJs to explain UL procedures and requirements.
• Provide technical assistance and represent UL at external meetings.
• Develop test requirements and methods for new or unique products.
• Supervise code and regulatory projects of major magnitude.
• Sign as Reviewer of record as assigned and resolve complex issues.
• Integrate continuous improvement in all aspects of the job.
